Lovely Livy, 14 Days New | Royal Oak, MI Newborn Photographer

Olivia (or Livy as mom and dad call her) was not too keen on sleeping during the first part of her shoot.  Nevertheless, she was too adorable for us to really mind... and look at those eyes!  As usual, the binkie came in handy, and we were then able to get some precious poses of the new little one fast asleep.

(Note: All headbands are one of a kind items made by Hatch Boutique.)

The Red Sled

For weeks now, I've been looking for an old sled for Winter pictures!  I was lucky enough to find an amazing deal on CraigsList this week for $5!  SNOW is supposed to be coming tonight... so I rushed to get the sled "dressed"!  Can't wait to use the new sled this weekend with many families!!!!

Email or call me to set up a Winter Photography Session ASAP... while the snow lasts!   :)

Teacher Needed: Flexibility a MUST!

Saint Agnes Church - Detroit, MI

This past Saturday I awoke at 6:30am... ON PURPOSE!

I had actually voluntarily signed up for a photography workshop to shoot an unnamed abandoned building in downtown Detroit with a wonderful group of people from Motor City Photography Workshops.

This was my first abandoned building shoot, so I was very excited to get all bundled up at the crack of dawn and go into the "D" to climb about an old building!

Now, this may not sound like fun to you, but to ME...  this was an ideal Saturday morning!

The secret place turned out to be a complex of buildings that was once the Saint Agnes Church and school.

It was expansive, gorgeous, and sad.  This astonishing building was once a place of worship and learning.  Now, it was little more than a banquet hall for ravers, a canvas for taggers, and a place to rest for the homeless.

The transformation that has occurred to this building is sadly nothing new to the city of Detroit.  My hope in photographing this old gem of a once thriving metropolis, is that it will help preserve the beauty and history that is being lost in our precious Motor City.

Family Fun @ the Cemetery?

Beautiful backdrops come in many forms... would you believe these pictures were actually taken at a cemetery?

Well, believe it!

And I think they turned out fabulous!

Just proves it's not necessarily the place that makes the photos!  A beautiful family with adorable children helps quite a bit too!    And of course, a photographer with a good eye doesn't hurt either!  ;)

Bright Colored Nursery Decor

I love The Giggles Collection!  It's a happy collection of colors, which is exactly why I named it the "Giggles" collection.

It's a perfect color combination for absolutely ANY child!

And it is so versatile!

While you can use this collection to compliment a bright colored room like the one below, it would also be a welcomed addition to brighten up almost any color scheme: dark blue, light blue, red, green, yellow, orange, pink, etc...

Here are some ideas of bright colored pieces that work well with The Giggles Collection:
